Richard Holmes
Richard Holmes, a 1966 graduate of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been making annual donations to Wayne State University since 1986.
When asked why he supports Wayne State's Annual Giving program, Holmes said, "I give to WSU mainly because I think it is a way of helping a great institution, its students and the city of Detroit. Also, there's a certain thankfulness and loyalty factor involved because my B.A. in Sociology from WSU led to my long career with the State of Michigan.
"My brothers and cousins went to WSU as did my mother and her two brothers, back when it was called the City College of Detroit. In addition, my father's brother was a coach and athletic director at Wayne State for many years. Hence, I get a good feeling when I give to the university. I feel good again when I use my WSU donations as a tax deduction! "
