Creating opportunities

“It’s about making sure that someone like me has an opportunity and does not have to struggle as hard as I did.”

For Geralyn Stephens ’88 M.Ed., ’94 Ed.D., giving is all about creating opportunities. Although she experienced the unique challenges of being a single parent while pursuing an advanced degree, Wayne State faculty’s commitment to helping students succeed was instrumental to her earning her doctorate.

As a faculty member and alumna, Geralyn extended the same dedication to student success that she was fortunate enough to receive. She wants to ensure many more students are given an opportunity, in spite of challenging circumstances, to pursue and obtain a quality education. Geralyn has chosen to leave a gift to the university in her estate plans. Her gift helps Wayne State continue to give members of the community access to educational and professional opportunities.

Like you, Geralyn recognizes the varied experiences that a diverse student population brings and understands the importance of giving each student a fair chance. You too can help Wayne State continue its legacy of opportunity by leaving a gift as a part of your estate plans.
