Finding a place at Wayne State

Ana Hernandez, Digital Design Specialist in the Office of Alumni Relations, is a relatively new staff member at Wayne State, but is not new to the Wayne State community. Earlier this year, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts.

Ana decided to make her first gift in support of the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) because the Center’s mission resonated with her. The Center provides equitable access to a quality university education and students interested in U.S. Latino/a and Latin American studies, and it enhances diversity on campus. “That commitment to diversity says to students, staff, and alumni like me that we belong," Ana said.

Ana’s story captures the spirit of the FY2017 Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign, Inspire from Within, which recognizes gifts made to Wayne State from faculty and staff between October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2017.

By participating in this fiscal year’s Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign, Inspire from Within, you can make your year-end gift to an area or program on campus that is most important to you.

I came to the U.S. from Mexico, so I know what it’s like to be a student here and needing a place to belong. I found that place at Wayne State, and I know how much it helped me. Now I’ve made a gift that can ‘inspire from within.’ Will you join me today?”
