Helping beyond the job

As senior associate athletics director, Jeff Weiss sees firsthand the success stories of student-athletes in the classroom, on the field and in the community, and he takes personal pride in each and every moment. His job entails writing and traveling with the teams, but he said his goal is to make sure that every student-athlete has a great experience during their time at Wayne State.

"I love to be able to call students by name as I walk by them in the hallways," Jeff said. "I look through their stories on the website, and at the GPA board and community service project lists. I'm so proud to see the achievements they’ve made." It is also the reason why Jeff gives back.

Jeff is proud to be part of the first university department to have a 100 percent staff giving participation rate to the FY2017 Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign, Inspire from Within.

Jeff’s story captures the spirit of the campaign, which recognizes gifts made to Wayne State from faculty and staff between October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.

"It’s great to be the first department on campus to have all of our full-time employees participating in the Inspire from Within program. Every gift makes a difference."
