Supporting student success

As an academic services officer in the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, Kelly Driscoll helps students every day with their academic choices. As a staff member, she also supports students in another way—by giving to scholarship funds, including a CFPCA scholarship and the Hilberry fellowships.

"I know how vital gifts are to student success," she said. "When we are able to provide scholarships for students who are struggling to pay tuition, a great service is done toward our future."

Kelly said she has often seen students in their senior year fail to graduate because of financial difficulties. "Philanthropy often allows those students to finish and go on to make the world a better place," she said.

Kelly’s story embodies the spirit of the FY2017 Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign, Inspire From Within, which recognizes gifts made to Wayne State from faculty and staff from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.

"If you want to make a difference in someone’s life and aren’t sure how to do it, giving to Wayne State is a great way to start."
