Shelley Clifton, business affairs director at the College of Nursing, joined Wayne State in 2014 and is enrolled in the faculty/staff payroll deduction program.

Shelley gives to Wayne State because of its enduring commitment to prepare a diverse student body to improve communities, both locally and around the world.

“That commitment is one of the things that excited me,” Shelley said, “and it’s part of why I decided to work at Wayne State. I’m inspired by the university’s vision and values, and I like the leadership President Wilson is providing.”

Shelley said she’s inspired every time she sees Detroit high school students visiting campus. “I believe one of the most important objectives of an educational institution is to support and educate the local community,” she said. “Wayne State is backing up its mission, vision and values with actionable items.”

Shelley’s story captures the spirit of the FY2017 Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign, Inspire from Within, which recognizes gifts made to Wayne State from faculty and staff from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.
