Matching Gifts: Increase the impact of your support

Did you know that many companies offer a matching gift program to encourage philanthropy among their employees? And that some companies will even match to spouses and retirees?

Step 1: Make your gift to Wayne State in support of any fund that is meaningful to you.

Step 2: Submit a matching gift request form to your employer's HR department.

Step 3: Wayne State confirms the gift details with your employer.

Step 4: WSU receives a check from your employer, matching the gift you made.

• What is a matching gift?

  A matching gift is a gift from a donor’s employer that matches the donor’s original gift. Companies often offer this benefit to its employees to encourage philanthropy. Often there is a 1:1 or 2:1 match.

• How do I know if my employer has a matching gift program?

  Use the search box above to see if your employer matches charitable donations. You can also contact your company’s human resources department.

• Where do I get a matching gift form?

  Matching gift forms are specific to each company. You might be able to find it in the search box above. If not, visit your company’s human resources department. Keep in mind that some companies offer a digital form as opposed to print.

• How do I submit the form once it’s complete?

  For companies with an online portal, use your log in to fill out the relevant gift information.

• If my company does match charitable donations, do I enter their gift with mine on Wayne State’s pledge form?

  They are treated as two separate gifts. Please enter only your gift amount on the online or print donation form.

• My employer requested a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

  Wayne State’s TIN is 38-6028429
